Affiliate Marketing For Beginners - 5 Mistakes Affiliate Marketers MUST Avoid
I know you have probably watched several videos on affiliate marketing for beginners, but I want to give you something you probably haven't seen before.
When I first started in affiliate marketing, all I wanted was to simply make money. Off I ran in every direction, trying everything, without a real idea of the errors I was making that could very well impact my chances at long-term success.
During my years of experience with both affiliate marketing and teaching other affiliate marketers, I have come to the conclusion that there are 7 big mistakes new affiliate marketers make.
Let us talk about these mistakes in more detail.
Selling Rather Than Helping
Yes, the word “marketing” is a portion of the phrase internet affiliate advertising, but for the most part, our job as an affiliate isn't to promote — that is the task of this revenue page our affiliate links direct the reader.
When I first started, my overpowering (and totally naive) impulse was to fill my pages with words and links that cried”BUY THIS NOW!” . I didn't assist the reader learn why they ought to get this item. I just wanted them to click a link that would hopefully result in a commission to me.
People today want to hear from other people when making a choice to purchase a product or not — that is why the reviews on Amazon goods are so powerful.
When we discuss more like an impartial reviewer as opposed to a high-pressure salesperson, we will discover we make more sales and individuals will return for advice about other goods later on.
Not Too Much!
While I absolutely do think in cultivating multiple streams of income when working on the internet, there is a point where you have a lot to deal with and it will become uncontrollable.
Choose your affiliate programs wisely and do not overload yourself.
Whenever I choose to market a Clickbank offer (for example), I place myself in the shoes of a potential customer and opt in to test the vendors' follow up arrangement.
I discovered that the hard way.
Nothing breaks a reader's trust more than being contributed to a promotion which will dismiss their own inbox. Place yourself in the shoes of a prospective client and see what's going to happen if they follow your own advice.
This was a BIG mistake I made when I first started out. I started my affiliate advertising career utilizing free-to-make webpages on a site named Squidoo (and I do so on this day).
I am fond of promoting Amazon goods on these pages, but would forget to use unique tracking affiliate links on each page.
Why is this a mistake? Very simple — once you make a sale, you want to know WHERE the purchase came from. This allows you to understand that pages are switching well so you can scale and grow that campaign.
Just log in to your Amazon affiliate dash, click “Account Settings” at the very top on the right, click “Manage Tracking IDs”. From there you can earn a new tracking ID so you can monitor which internet page/campaign marketed what.
Yes, making any commission is trendy, but understanding where and how you made that commission is what makes you a better marketer. It permits you to scale and grow your campaigns — instead of working kindly.
Among the best turning approaches I use to market affiliate products online (particularly actual products from Amazon) is to compare the”primary” product with two other similar products.
When folks are in buying mode for a physical product, they tend to have their options narrowed down to 2 or 3 and need help making the choice that is best for them.
As time passes, when I monitor that web page, I'll have the ability to see which product is most intriguing to readers and move the best converting product to the peak of the page for better CTR.
Comparison web pages are not only very popular and helpful for readers, they are also very profitable for you.
Earn Cash Online Products
Maybe you've noticed this earlier. You are in a”learn online marketing” type forum. A person publishes a post whining that they can't make a dime on the internet. But in their own signature line they have something along the lines of”I Made 50 Million Dollars with This” followed by their own affiliate link.
It happens all the time. Please, don't be that person.
If you are new and you need to promote products in the earn money on the internet arena, do not make false promises that it produced you money. In fact, don't make false claims at all!
Sure, talk about the advantages of this product/training — maybe even why it sounds awesome for you — but don't try to deceive people. You may ruin your credibility.
“Shiny Eye Syndrome”
This is the biggest downfall for any new affiliate marketer. In fact, it can cause quite big issues for seasoned affiliate marketers as well.
It is all too common to be operating on a single thing when all of a sudden, something”glistening” comes through your inbox or is cited in a forum you regular. Then off you go pursuing a new concept to generate money online.
Ignore the “butterflies” which are sure to fly by on a continuous basis. They will only distract you from your project/campaign at hand. One finished and profitable campaign is worth so much more than 50 almost half-finished campaigns or projects.
Online affiliate marketing is a business that requires self-motivation and attention. For many of us, all these are learned skills. Once you are conscious of the the mistakes which can result in a lack of profits and productivity, you will be more able to increase your business and be profitable long-term.
Best of fortune!!
